Dale Edward Wolcott, Jr., 65, of Avon, passed away Saturday, October 7th.

Dale was born on September 6, 1952 in Bedford, IN. He was an industrial engineer and part owner of Electric Steel Castings Company, located in Speedway. Most recently, he was a teaching assistant at Avon Middle School South. Dale had been a Boy Scout leader, and faithfully helped with the sound system at East 10th UMC each Sunday.

He is survived by his wife, Vickie; two children, Dale (Emily) Wolcott III and April Wolcott; and two sisters, Nancy (Mark) McKinney and Leah (Bob Arthur) Wolcott Fayette

A funeral service will be held at Noon on Friday, October 13th at East 10th United Methodist Church, 2327 E. 10th Street, Indianapolis 46201; with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Dale will be laid to rest at Lincoln Memory Gardens, Whitestown, IN.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East 10th United Methodist Church.

Dale was a great husband, father, and brother. We will miss him more than words can express.

  7. I can’t begin to say what a pleasure it was to work with Dale at Avon Middle School South. He was always professional while having a wonderful sense of humor and was always willing to help a student in need. He will be greatly missed!

  8. I know of no one more steady and faithful than Dale. He has always been there for East Tenth United Methodist Church. Dale frequently offered support and encouragement to me. He did thankless, behind-the-scenes jobs. He looked for no credit. He loved the work he willingly gave himself to. This is a heritage and legacy all family and friends can be proud of and take inspiration from. My heart is broken for Vickie, April, Dale, Nancy, and Leah. And for the wonderful community of faith known as East Tenth UMC. Three Wolcotts who have loved and served God and the community through East Tenth UMC have now transitioned to heavenly places. I am grateful to have known and been known by them, to have observed their lives and witness, and to commend their character, love, and faith to all.

  9. Vicki – The Accident Fund family was so saddened to learn of Dale’s sudden passing. You are a reflection and extension of your family and as such I feel a connection to Dale through you. The transition from temporary home to eternal home is difficult for those who remain in temporary status but I trust you will find comfort in knowing Dale’s new address and one day being reunited with him via God’s love and grace. Until then, know that friends are praying and providing you strength during these difficult days.

  17. Dale never failed to share a kind word. His was a gentle soul and we will sorely miss him at East Tenth UMC. At Sunday services, Dale managed the sound, from his place high in the balcony. His role was sweetly symbolic. Almost unseen, he worked to make the music sound sweeter and to amplify the voices of others, without calling attention to himself. In many ways, he was an example to all of us. As we are traveling out of state we will be unable to attend the funeral services. But we will keep the family in our prayers. Bless you all.

  18. The Wolcotts were so instrumental in our salvation. Although the years have separated us, we remember Dale Jr. with such fond memories. He was a swet and quiet soul.

  21. We are very saddened to hear of Dale’s passing. He was a great man and teacher. While we only knew Mr Wolcott for 4 years and only in an educational capacity, he had a tremendous impact on my son. Of all of his teachers in 13 years of school, we believe Mr Wolcott had one of the greatest impacts. The world lost a wonderful person Saturday and can use more people like him.

  25. So very sorry about Dale. We grew up together when his father came to Ft. Wayne to be our pastor. He later became my cousin when his grandfather married my grandmother. Sweet memories of CYC, church camp, Greenville College. I am so thankful I was able to give him a big hug last summer while visiting in Ft. Wayne. My prayers are with you.

    Words can comfort and bring courage, but nothing will pull you through like your faith in Jesus Christ. For us who have received his pardon of our sins, he has promised a new life, new body, and no more tears, pain or sorrow in our heavenly home. Cling to the King of the Universe and what he has to say in the scriptures as you marvel at the many wonderful years you had with the love of your life, Dale!   38. We’ve only known Dale for the past three years while attending East Tenth UMC, yet he’s the kind of person that once you’ve met him, you feel like you’ve always known him. He served others with no thoughts of himself. His quiet presence was a comfort to us. He lived his life to glorify God and encourage others. His passing is a great physical and spiritual loss to us all. Your family knows the meaning of celebrating in the Home-going of saints. Dale is Home, and is among the great cloud of witnesses.

  45. Excuse me, Dale, it has taken me several days to write this. To put 33 years of memories into a paragraph is impossible. You first became our neighbor, then our friend, now and always part of our family. Did I mention, you’re one of Larry’s best friends ?

    After reading the many comments and seeing the impact you had on other people lives, listening to April and Dale’s tribute to their dad, and what it has meant to our family having you as our neighbor and friend, I now realize we were living next door to an Angel on Earth.

    We have been blessed to have you in our lives for 33 years. We will miss you more than words can say. RIP, Dale. Heaven has another angel.

  50. There are no words to express the pain of losing ones best friend…
    I have read these tributes many times, and although I always knew what a great man Dale was I’m amazed at the amount of people’s lives that have been affected by his life… and death. My heart is broken with my own grief, but to Vickie, Dale III, and April their lives have just been turned upside down. My love and prayers are with you always.
    He is watching over us now from heaven with his beautiful Angel wings… he was the best big brother a girl could ever ask for. I will miss you tremendously, my brother…..my friend.

  51. Vicki, Nancy and Leah: Mom (Mary Jo Rardin) and myself, (Teresa Rardin) were shocked to read about Dale’s passing. I remember him & the girls from Wabash Camp. Our parents used to get together from time to time. Dale never treated me like some of the older kids did. I have many fond memories of those times. Mom’s still reeling from the shock of his passing. All of you are in our prayers. If we had known, we would have paid our respects. God bless you all!
